Everyone has had a boss, at one point in their life. Most bosses are okay, some bosses are horrible, and very few bosses are great. If you ask a bunch of people what makes a great boss, you're going to get a bunch of different answers. However, there are a few things that make a boss great.
Experience is probably the most important thing that makes a great boss. In order to be good at our job, we need to observe and learn from others. Who do we try to learn from? Our boss. So a boss that has a lot of experience is great.
Seeing situations from different perspectives makes a great boss. Getting feedback from different employees and considering various opinions and suggestions can help a boss improve the workplace, products or services, and their own leadership skills.
In order for a company to be successful, it must have a unique purpose and a structured workplace. A boss that understands the alignment of the company makes for a great one. A boss that helps a company work smoothly and encourages every employee to do their job comfortably and efficiently will keep the company aligned. Along with structure, a boss that can help the company adapt to changing conditions will enable it to grow and prosper.
Being friendly, approachable, and efficient is not enough to be a great boss. It takes experience, perspective, and alignment as well.
