Using the same type
of technologies as self-driving cars and computer vision, Amazon Go
is soon to be the next big thing. Located at 2131 7th Ave, Seattle,
WA, on the corner of 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street, the first
Amazon Go has been built to create a shopping experience where
customers don't have to wait in lines to checkout. In fact, they
don't have to checkout at all!
With Amazon Go's
Just Walk Out Shopping experience, all you need is an Amazon account,
a smartphone, and the Amazon Go app to utilize this new store. You go
in the store, take your desired products, and leave...NO checkout! By
automatically detected when products are taken from or returned to
the shelves, their Just Walk Out technology uses a virtual cart to
keep track of what you take then they charge your Amazon account and
send you a receipt. So you basically shop just like at a regular
store and just get billed.
In the roughly 1,800
square foot store, you'll find things like ready-to-eat breakfast,
lunch, and dinner options, along with snacks that are made fresh
daily by on-site chefs and local kitchens and bakeries. They also
stock bread, milk, cheese, and chocolate.
Opening to the
public in early 2017, Amazon Go is now available to Amazon employees
in their Beta program. Click here for more information.
